Strictly speaking, this is not a novelty but a slight facelift of the Rolex Yacht-Master II replica watch. Indeed, this year, the Yacht-Master II, an imposing 44 mm regatta chronograph, is adorned with a new dial and new hands that go perfectly with this piece, which is totally unique in the world of racing. Geneva manufacture.
The movement
We no longer present the Yacht-Master II, a well-known Rolex model launched ten years ago, which, thanks to its “in-house” caliber, allows a “programmable countdown with mechanical memory”. More precisely, this countdown is programmable from 10 to 1 minutes. This, in order to prepare for the start of a regatta.
This programming is memorized by the “in house” mechanism (caliber 4161/72 h of power reserve), which allows, when resetting, to return to the time initially set. Once activated, the countdown can be synchronized in flight to precisely match the official race count.
The dial
We all know the system of this timepiece which remains unchanged. But this year, the Geneva brand has "simply" reviewed the face of this watch ... And in a very beautiful way. Thus, the new dial has a triangle index at 12 o'clock (vs a square previously) and a rectangle at 6 o'clock, which aim to improve the reading orientation. In addition, the hour hand is now clearly differentiated from the minute hand by a luminescent pellet.
To put it simply, the Yacht-Master II takes on the styling of the hands found on most Rolex professionals. Except that the end of the minute hand is skeletonized (without luminescent material) so as not to interfere with the reading of the time. In the past, this watch was fitted with "Daytona" type hands. The point is, this new set of needles matches the overall design of this ultra-sporty piece much better.
This new display configuration is available on all Yacht-Master II models in 904L steel, Rolesor Everose (combination of 904L steel and 18kt Everose gold), 18kt yellow gold and 18kt white gold . In short, on all models.
Like all Rolex watches, the new Yacht-Master II benefits from the Superlative Chronometer certification redefined by Rolex in 2015 to guarantee exceptional performance on the wrist.
