TAG Heuer Monaco 1979-1989 Limited Edition Replica Watch

Following on the launch of the Monaco 1969 – 1979 Limited Edition, TAG Heuer presents the second of five limited-edition Monaco watches that celebrate the iconic watch’s 50th anniversary. The launch event took place yesterday, June 15, in Le Mans, France, the exact place where the famous actor Steve McQueen sported the original Monaco timepiece.

The TAG Heuer Monaco replica watch was the watch of radical design, the first ever water-resistant square watch, and the first watch with an automatic-winding chronograph movement. This year, five new and original Monaco anniversary editions will be revealed, each inspired by one of the decades from 1969 to 2019.

The latest collector’s edition watch is the Monaco 1979-1989, inspired by the icon’s second decade. The watch features a fiery design with a bold red dial and a black calfskin perforated strap with red interior. The legendary square case is rendered in stainless steel, while the dial features a sunray finish and two rhodium-plated subdials with rounded edges. Just like the original Monaco, the watch has the pushers positioned on the right of the case, while the crown is on the left.



The case


The solid case-back features a number of commemorative inscriptions, including the “Monaco Heuer” logo, “1979-1989 Special Edition” and “One of 169”. Underneath is the renowned Calibre 11, an automatic movement oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It provides functions for chronograph seconds and minutes, a date, hours, minutes, and small seconds at 3 o’clock.
