The legendary square case is rendered in stainless steel, while the dial features a sunray finish and two rhodium-plated subdials with rounded edges. Just like the original Monaco, the watch has the pushers positioned on the right of the case, while the crown is on the left.

The solid case-back features a number of commemorative inscriptions, including the “Monaco Heuer” logo, “1979-1989 Special Edition” and “One of 169”. Underneath is the renowned Calibre 11, an automatic movement oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It provides functions for chronograph seconds and minutes, a date, hours, minutes, and small seconds at 3 o’clock.
